Back to Reality

This is the opposite of the way we all felt this morning getting up for school...

It's hard coming back to reality after a week off.  I am remembering those sweet smiles and the fun we had last week at my parent's house.

I will get back to proper blogging when I can come up for air.  Our Spring Break would not be complete without a trip to Urgent Care.  It's that accident prone middle son again, Jacob took a nasty fall on his bike over the weekend.  His knee took the worst of it although there is evidence of said trauma on his leg, hip, shoulder and face...of course there is, it's Jacob...he doesn't do anything half way.

We were too late for stitches (note to self, those have to be done w/in the first 6-8 hours of the injury), so they cleaned him up and patched him up best they could and sent us on our way with some antibiotics and a "he'll have a pretty impressive scar when it's all said and done."  Tell me about it, story of our livesWe'll at least it's one of the boys, b/c they would have had to make that look a whole lot prettier if that had been my baby girl.

I'm missin' my babies today, I'll be sharing our Spring Break pictures soon.

Grey's 1st 5th Birthday Party

We kicked off our Spring Break with a Birthday Party for a certain 4 year old who is turning 5.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but he's still a huge Star Wars fan.  We have been a having a Star Wars: The Clone Wars birthday party for this kid for 3 years now.

Boys and their video games, it starts at an early age.

Thank goodness SK and I are used to being outnumbered at home, b/c this party was heavy on the XY chromosomes.

There were two birthday boys and two birthday cakes at this party, Grey and his best bud Jacob celebrated together this year.  I love his face in the picture below.

This was Grey's first kid party, usually we just have a family party for him.  I think the expression on his face says it all.

Boys ruled at this party...

We saved the present opening for when we got home...

Seeing as how Grey's real birthday isn't until March 28, I am thinking that this boy is going to try stretch out the cake and presents for the whole month of March.  He will be having another party when we are at my parent's house over Spring Break.

He's going to be impossible to deal with by the time March 28th rolls around and I will have no one to blame but myself for creating this birthday monster.  It's fun while it lasts though.

It was a good start to our Spring Break.  Thanks for checking in on us.

As of Friday at 2:55, we will officially be on Spring Break.  So here's to a Happy Spring Break, we will spend ours...

-sleeping late, please please kids let's spend ours sleeping late

-staying in our pj's later than we should

-not having to be anywhere at any particular time

-bonfires

-no homework

-tree houses and zip lines

-no schedule

-shopping for some cute spring clothes with MiMi

-spending time out in the woods with BB guns (the boys and PawPaw, not SK)

-being dressed up in matching clothes with her cousins (SK, not the boys and PawPaw)

-staying up way past our bedtime (which is why we will be sleeping late, right kids?)

-being loved on a spoiled stinkin' rotten...well, that one will apply to all of my kids this week.

Ah, Spring Break, we are crazy excited to see you again.

Sophie Kate

Sophie Kate before school one morning...

Valentines Day...

Before church one Sunday morning...

SK and her one of a kind smile...

This is how I find her every single morning...

She always looks so warm and snugly in her bed, hair flung out every which way.  Her arms are usually tucked up inside just like this picture, as if she has fallen asleep in the middle of her bedtime prayers.  Could there be any safer or more protected place for her than here?

The world places things on her that she is not even aware of...like her limitations, her worth, and her quality of life. She shows us that the things we place emphasis and importance on are not the most important things.  She perseveres through difficult circumstances and radiates joy in all things, she loves with her whole heart and trusts completely.  She has so much to give and I have so much to learn.

Beautiful

I get asked what Sophie Kate's day is like at school.  How is it going?  What does she do there?  Does she enjoy going? Watch the video clip below and you will see why she loves this class so much.  This video was sent to me by Sophie Kate's preschool teacher.  There is quite a bit of background noise so turn it up and  listen very closely to a scene and a song that will bless your socks off...

We have so much to learn from these children.  There is no judgement, no pity, no fear just acceptance as a friend, no conditions, no strings attached.  Sophie Kate must be able to sense that.  She is happy, comfortable and content when she is at school and above all else she is loved and cared for, what more can I desire for her when she is not with me.
Words cannot really describe what this expression of friendship means to me as her mom, huge tears well up in my eyes each time I watch it.  If you didn't catch it the first time, her sweet friend is singing "You Are So Beautiful To Me."  Now scroll back up and watch it again and listen to her words...so beautiful.

And here they are youngest to oldest...

A boy and his daddy, I love the look on his face.

This weekend we played ball, played outside and played with family and friends.  This weekend we spent time together,  ate some good food and laugh out loud a lot.  This weekend went by way too fast.
