Chef Mickey's

Wednesday found us with an early morning reservation for Chef Mickey's, it's a "must do" for us but we only do it for breakfast.  I have heard less than stellar reviews about Chef Mickey's for lunch and dinner.  I cannot speak to that though because we only do breakfast there and as in true Disney fashion it is excellent!

All the Disney characters come around to your table for some extra special one on one time, or in our case one on four time.  We started out with Goofy.  I think this is the fourth time we had seen him by then.

Fist pump...

Hello Princess...
Next came Pluto...

Grey's favorite...

waiting to see whose coming next...

Donald Duck...

Time for Mickey and Minnie...

Up until this point we had only seen Minnie Mouse from a distance, not up close and personal.  There was a collective sigh in the room when she appeared, "Ahhh, there she is."

Minnie might just be my favorite.

A kiss from Mickey...

Love this one, almost brought a tear to my eye...

Chef Mickey's deserved it's own post so I didn't feel like it was rushed.  I am so enjoying going back through all my pictures again and taking my time as I remember and record each special memory.  Keep in mind this was just breakfast, we were done and headed to Magic Kingdom by 9:00am.  There is a lot more to this day than just Chef Mickey's like Sophie Kate meeting the Disney Princesses for the first time.  Stay close there's more to come.

I am loving your Disney world post. My family is thinking of planning a trip for next year. I was kinda concerned about how it would be for a special needs child.
I am now convinced that my Gabby would be able to enjoy the experience with the rest of the family. Your post came right on time. I am looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.

Kristi, I could go on and on about how wonderful they were to us. I would be happy to answer any of your questions and give you some tips you need to know about. They went above and beyond for us, they really do take care of their special needs kids. Amye

Thanks for writing back Amye!
What rides ,if any, was Sophie able to board? Gabby is small for her age (3yrs old)and has issues controlling her body movements. Also were you given special accommadations as far as waiting in lines. I remember the lines being very long on my 2 visits as a child. Gabby is also not potty trained at this time ( ihope to have this done by the time we make our trip), are restrooms accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Also, what type stroller do you use for Sophie Kate? Gabby is outgrowing the 2 that we have. We are exploring our options for a wheelchair but I like the convenience of a stroller at this time.

SK rode everything but the roller coasters. She rode everything in Fantasyland, Buzz Lightyear ride, Toy Story ride, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise and Kilamanjaro Safari at Animal Kingdom. Now she had to transfer out of her stroller to do so, but like I said she rode everything but the roller coasters.

Yes, we were given special accommodations, go to Guest Services of whichever park you go to first and tell them your situation/diagnosis and they give you a pass for all the rides. They were so good to us, we rarely waited for any ride.

I recommend a stroller just because the pavement is pretty unforgiving and SK had a much smoother ride in her stroller than she would have had in her wheelchair. It is by Adaptive Star (it's a big stroller) and fit on all the Disney buses, b/c if your staying on Disney property then you can just take the buses to the parks each day, best way to go.

Lastly, SK is not potty trained and I found that not all the bathrooms had a changing table long enough for her. So we just found a hidden spot somewhere and just changed her right in her stroller, since the back would lay down some.

Hope that helps, Amye
