Just like Magic Kingdom two days prior, we opened up this one too.
Opening ceremonies at Animal Kingdom...
We headed straight to the Kilimanjaro Safari ride per our instructions, little did we know we needn't hurry to any ride because we were taken right to the front of just about every ride we went on.
Our safari was awesome we saw lots of animals up close and personal. There are 5 hippos in the picture below.
We were told that the horns on these animals (in the picture above) that I can't remember the name of could grow up to a circumference of 20 inches. See we didn't pull the kids out of school just for fun there was some educational stuff thrown in there too.
These animals were so close to us, I just couldn't stop taking pictures of them.
Terk from Tarzan...
I enlarged this picture so that you can see that this is no ordinary vine growing in Animal Kingdom. This vine has a face, do you see it? Kinda creepy, huh?
Grey was fascinated, he just couldn't look away...
Expedition Everest...
Check out rows 2 (Jacob and Cooper) and 3 (Grey and Chad) in the picture below...
Yes, I did ride Expedition Everest but pictures of me with my mouth wide open screaming at the top of my lungs and clutching my safety straps, while my 5 year old is smiling with his hands in the air will not make it to this blog EVER!! One time on Everest was enough for this girl.
Awww...the Finding Nemo show was so cute. Sophie Kate loved the music and bright colors.
Riding the Dinosaurs at Dinoland...
Nap #1
We ran into Goofy and Pluto at Dinoland.
Grey took up with Pluto from day 1. He spent his Disney money on a Pluto stuffed animal on day 2, because he just couldn't wait any longer, so this was a big moment for Grey..
Grey, look at the camera please...
Thank you.
The parade at Animal Kingdom, please indulge me, I just love this stuff.
I had to get one of Pluto for Grey...
We ran in to Goofy again, he really gets around, this time he was with Donald.
This was Goofy's reaction when he saw our little SK...
By this time I think we had seen Pluto, Donald, Goofy (several times) and Buzz. SK and I were wondering where all the girls were...until we spotted Pocahontas.
Her line had closed for the day, but we were told SK could see her anyway. The Disney people told Pocahontas that SK was her last guest of the day and that she could take all the time she needed with us...and she did. She was darling.
Sophie Kate was so happy meeting Pocahontas...
There is a story that goes with the picture below...we met this couple on the Kali River rapids. We had already ridden several times before we were seated next to them. Well, really I should say that Grey was seated next to them. One thing you should know about Grey was that once he rode something he then became the expert on it and told any one around him who would listen all about the ride. He took up with these two and was giving them an ear full. They were so sweet to him just smiling and laughing. We got off and rode one last time because they wanted to go with the boys again. They even went so far as to tell the Disney people that we were a "party of six." It wasn't until the end of the ride that she tells me they are from Brazil, he doesn't understand any English and she only understands a little. It was so funny, Grey was never the wiser and of course never stopped talking.
This was the most fun I have ever had at Animal Kingdom. The weather was fantastic, the company was great and the fun was off the hook. Day 2 at the parks...we opened it up and shut it down!
